WHERE IS THE ART

So, because I am being slowly crushed under the weight of my final 3D projects and have limited time to design elaborate food comics based on my virtually illegible recipe notes, we’re instead going to breakdown a recent post on Budget Bytes, a food blog for the poor and the miserly. Hopefully this will inform some of my own future food content designs.

The most recent post is easily accessible on the first page, with a giant, delicious looking thumbnail on it and the beginning of Beth’s description underneath.

Quickie Faux Phở - The next best to the real thing when you're short on time. BudgetBytes.com

Upon clicking the image, you are brought to the recipe, which is basically composed of her contextualizing the recipe, the write up, the printable/price breakdown, and the step by step photos.

In doing this project, I had initially planned to split my comics into two parts, the first including the story and personality and the second including the recipe. However, this split made it difficult to keep track of and categorize my postings. The weekly distribution and comic format lends itself better to being an illustrated ingredients list and a step by step photo description of the recipe. Which I’m beginning to figure out. I’ll see you guys next week!
